End of the Trip: Kathmandu
Duration: 13 days
Seasons: October- November, March- April
Maximum Elevation: 4095m
Begin the trek from Phedi, which is a 1½-hour bus ride away from Pokhara. The entire region of Phedi is also known as Dhampus. Trek through the Gurung villages, past the Modi Gorge before heading towards Annapurna Sanctuary, also known as Annapurna Deuthali. Along the trek the trail transverse huge variety of terrains from glacial moraines to terraced farm fields. The trek is filled with steep declines and ascents, the first initial days of the trek are much more difficult than the rest. Small lodges, restaurants, and places to rest are readily available within an hour distance along each stop. The Annapurna Sanctuary is little more than a roadside Bazaar, it is only 30 minutes upstream to Birethanti, with fancy lodges, an art gallery and ACAP check Post. The trek is doable round the year, unless the normal route is disrupted by avalanche. Though telephone services are available as far as Chhomrong, there are no communication facilities in the sanctuary. In this trek, there is no acclimatization problem unlike the Everest region trek. From Machhapuchhare Base Camp enjoy stupendous views of some of world’s tallest peaks.
