Visit the holy lake of Gosaikund either while returning from Langtang or alternatively by trekking directly from Dhunche. The lake of Gosaikund is religiously significant for both Hindus and Buddhists. Yearly about 20,000 Hindu pilgrims visit the site to take bath in the sacred lake and pay homage to their deities. This area is especially flocked by pilgrims during the month of August when Janai Poornima is celebrated. This trek begins from Thulo Syabru, and ends at Sundarijal.
There are three ways to reach Thulo Syabru and they are follows:
Thulo Bharkhu – Barbal – Thulo Syabru Trek Duration: 4 – 5 hours, 340m ascent, 340m descent
About 100 North of Thulo Bharkhu the road crosses a small stream with water driven mills. Leave the road and climb steeply to the schoolhouse, then continue up a stone staircase. The walk eventually becomes a delightful and occasionally level- hike through pine and rhododendron forests to Dau Danda, a single teashop in the forest. A short, steep descent from Lantang Valley through bamboo forests leads to Thulo Syabru. Along the trail you will have opportunity to view Ganesh Himal (7406m) and Naya Kangri.
Doman – U Kyang – Thulo Syabru Trek Duration: 2 hours, 570m ascent, 40m descent
Fifteen minutes east of Doman on the Langtang Valley trail, a path braches right off the main trail at an unmarked junction. Visit a friendly teashop at U Kyang. The trail drops gradually across Gopche Khola before the trail climbs to the lower part of Thulo Syabru.
Syabrubesi – Thulo Syabru Trek Duration: 2 – 3 hours, 750m ascent From Syabrubesi follow the first 30 minutes of the main Langtang trail and then cross the bridge to the South side of the Langtang Khola, branch right, climbing continually before eventually reaching Thulo Syabru.
Gosaikund, Sing Gompa (3300m), Cheese Factory, Red Panda Sanctuary, and many more. Some prominent peaks at sight include: Naya Kangri (5846m), Ganesh Himal (7406) and many others.
