Lantang Valley is nestled at the south of the Tibetan border, between the main Himalayan range in north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Lantang valley trek offers an opportunity to explore villages, bag small peaks and visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation. The Lantang Valley trek begins from Syabrubesi, which is 132km from Kathmandu. Syabrubes is also 15km away from Dhunche, which is another gateway to Lantang & Helambu region trek. During the trek you will have the opportunity to visit the famous monastery of Kyanjin Gompa. Spend the 4th and 5th day of this trek taking a side trip from Langtang to explore Langshisha Kharka. Tibetan Buddhism is deep rooted in this region, and its influence is reflected on many of the chortens, prayer flags and Mani stones found in this region. Along the trail, you will traverse across several moraines and rickety bridges. Take a detour to Syarpagaon trail (literally meaning village of the Sherpa), from Syarpagaon you can get picturesque scene of the some of the highest peaks in the world.

Langshisha Kharka offers spectacular mountain views. Some of the snowy peaks that be sighted along the trail are Tenbathang and Dorje Himal towards the South. The trail leads through shrubs, crosses a stream on a rickety seasonal bridge and follows cairns over a glacial outwash, skirting the Shalbachum moraine to a spectacular view point at 4100m which overlooks Langshisha Kharka and the peaks of Dorje Lakpa (6966m) and Penthang Karpo Ri (6830m).
