All baggage must be declared and cleared through the customs on arrival at the entry. Personal effects are permitted free entry. A tourist may bring in dutiable goods, such as tobacco and liquor, within the prescribed quantity free of duty. Carrying narcotics, arms and ammunition are strictly prohibited. Visitors can export souvenirs to their respective countries. The export of antiques requires a special certificate from the Department of Archeology. |
Foreign currencies must be exchanged only through the banks or authorized foreign exchange dealers. The receipts from such transaction are to be obtained and retained. Visitors can also exchange money at the foreign exchange counter at the airport upon arrival. Credit cards like American Express, Visa and Master Cards are accepted. Convertible currencies are as follows: Dollar –Australian, Canadian, Hong Kong, US, Singapore; Franc –Belgium, French, Swiss; Kroner - Danish, Swedish; Austrian Shilling, German Mark, Italian Lira, Japanese Yen, Netherlands Guilder and Sterling Pound.
Please retain your encashment slip for changing back local currency to foreign currency on departure at the exit points or at Tribhuvan International Airport departure lounge. |
