Lumbini, the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam. The Shakya prince and the ultimate Buddha, the Enlightened One, is the pilgrimage destination of the world’s millions of people faithful to all schools of Buddhism. UNESCO lists this nativity site, identified by Indain Emperor Ashoka’s commemorative pillar as a World Heritage Site. The main attraction of Lumbini remains the Sacred Garden, which is spread over 8sq km, possessing all the treasures of the historic area. The Mayadevi Temple is the main attraction for pilgrims and archaeologists alike. Here we find a monument of Mayadevi, Lord Buddha’s mother giving birth to him. Standing west to the Mayadevi shrine is the oldest monument of Nepal, the Ashoka Pillar. Emperor Ashoka erected the pillar in 249 BC to commemorate his pilgrimage to the sacred site. To the south of the pillar, we find the sacred pond, {Puskarni} where Queen Mayadevi had taken a bath just before giving birth to Lord Buddha. Places of various interest surrounds the area There are other places of interest too nearby. It is accessible by air from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa. From Kathmandu it takes about eight hours by bus or car.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

Upon arrival you will be received  our team and be briefed about the program. 

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing

On the second day, visit the temple of Bouddha Nath, Copen Monastery, Swayambhu Nath stupa, Bonpo Monastery, Patan Golden Temple (Varna Mahabihar) During the late evening, take a short trip to the Thamel Bazaar.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara 

Drive early from Kathmandu to Pokhara, it takes about 4 ½ to 5 hours. Pokhara is situated 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu, and is at an altitude of 827 meter from the sea level.

Day 4: Pokhara Sightseeing 

Early in the morning drive to Sarankot for a great view of sunrise. Later during the day, visit some of the famous attractions of the valley, such as Davis Fall, which lies 2 km southwest of Pokhara airport on the highway to Tansen. Another must see attraction in Pokhara is the World Peace Pagoda built by Nipponzan Fujii, after World War II as shrines to World Peace. There are four statues of Buddha each citing four different incidents in Buddha’s Life. In order to reach the Stupa, you may choose to cross the lake by boat and then hike uphill. Other sites that will be visited includes Seti River George. Tibetan Refugee camp, Devi's waterfall, and Tibetan monastery.

Day 5: Pokhara to Lumbini 

After breakfast drive to Lumbini via Siddhartha Highway.

Day 6: Lumbini Sightseeing

Some of the places that will be visited include: Asoka pillar, Japanese temples, Chinese temples, and Vietnamese temple. Also visit the birth place of Buddha, the beautiful Maya garden, and many other surrounding monasteries.

Day 7: Lumbini to Kathmandu

Catch a flight from Siddharthanagar, which is 15-20 minutes away from Lumbini.

Day 8: Kathmandu Departure

After breakfast, you will be taken to the airport to connect you with your flight back home.
